We are currently recruiting for a Senior Livestock Market Specialist (Senior Analyst - Livestock) to work on a hybrid basis, two/three days from our HQ in Coventry and the remainder working remotely from home.
This role has responsibility for researching, analysing, interpreting livestock market information (primarily pork) and clearly communicating analytical insight and intelligence to AHDB and its levy payers. We are looking for a highly analytical and data‑driven individual with clear evidence of having prepared and communicated economic and/or market insight through a variety of sources. Knowledge of, or a background in, the agriculture sector is preferred, although not essential.
Established in 2008, AHDB is the independent, impartial public body that unlocks success in British agriculture. Funded by a levy from over 100,000 British farmers, growers and processors in the beef, lamb, pork, dairy and cereals sectors, we support and champion farmers and processors, often where no one else can or will.
Responsibilities- Prepare and disseminate analysis, interpretation and commentary relating to livestock agricultural commodity markets (primarily pork), farm businesses and the economic environment that they operate in, retail and consumer markets and/or trade policy
- Act as a key internal and external point of contact for pork market insight, engaging regularly with levy payers, industry, government, media and academics
- Deliver impactful market insight presentations to levy payers, industry stakeholders and wider audiences, ensuring complex messages are communicated with clarity and accuracy
- Lead detailed research projects within the pork market, producing written outputs that distil findings into concise, meaningful insights
- Maintain strong relationships with industry, academics, government and media to ensure information remains relevant and is effectively disseminated
- Work across one or more analytical areas to support the timely delivery of outputs, working closely with Lead Analysts, Analysts and Trainee Analysts to ensure analysis is robust, relevant and well communicated
- Manage and deliver specific analytical projects, working effectively with colleagues across teams where joint analytical work is required
- Strong experience of preparing and delivering economic/market analysis, ideally within the agriculture sector, although not essential
- Professional qualification to at least degree standard in Economics/Agriculture or another numerate discipline, or equivalent experience
- Experience of using modern IT applications, including Excel and PowerPoint (Power BI is also preferred, although not essential)
- High level of attention to detail
- Excellent planning and organising and project management skills
- Experience of leading a small team
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday, to include hybrid working
- 33 days of annual leave plus one privilege day
