Job Title: Buyer

Location: Coventry (on site)

Contract: 6 months

Rate
: £28/hr+ PAYE

Holidays
: 33 days pro rata (inclusive of Bank Holidays)

You will secure the best quality, service and value for critical, complex and high‑value parts, materials and services through sourcing, negotiation and supplier management. You'll coordinate UK purchases with the North Hollywood, CA site and ensure supply keeps production running to time, cost and quality targets.

• Manage procurement of materials and services to support quality, delivery and cost goals.

• Issue purchase orders for UK and international suppliers, ensuring accurate price, schedule, terms and import/export requirements.

• Identify and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish alternative sources for complex or technical items.

• Monitor supplier performance, resolve delivery, quality and payment issues, and drive corrective actions.

• Lead supplier site visits and assessments, including production capability, quality and delivery.

• Handle damage claims, returns, over‑shipments, cancellations and engineering‑change buys.

• Apply continuous improvement and data analysis to internal processes and supplier performance.

• Ensure compliance with aerospace, government and commercial procurement rules and company policies.

• Degree in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent mix of education and experience.

• 6+ years purchasing or procurement experience in a complex or manufacturing environment.

• Certificate in Purchasing Management (CPM) or APICS qualifications are desirable.

• Strong knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, supplier management and contract terms.

• Familiarity with industry practices, legal and regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement.

• Proficient with ERP/MRP and standard business software (Excel, email, procurement systems).

• Skilled at problem‑solving, data analysis and balancing cost, quality and lead time.

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work with internal teams and suppliers at all levels.
