Sustainable Building Services (SBS) is a multi-award-winning retrofit decarbonisation solutions provider and principal contractor delivering at scale across all housing tenure types — social, owner-occupied, and private rental homes.

We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to manage the financial and contractual performance of construction projects across our portfolio.
Working closely with operational teams, you will be responsible for cost control, forecasting, procurement, valuations, and ensuring projects are delivered within budget and in line with contractual programmes.
This is a key role within the business, requiring strong commercial awareness, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
You will play a vital part in maintaining project profitability and ensuring robust financial management throughout each construction phase.
As our Quantity Surveyor you will:

* Manage the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers across all assigned projects

* Place subcontract orders in line with programme requirements, securing best value and ensuring full contract compliance

* Place material orders, maintain accurate records, and provide required information to the finance team

* Meet all deadlines as specified within the SBS Commercial Timetable

* Produce detailed and accurate cashflow and revenue forecasts for each scheme

* Prepare cost budgets prior to project launch and maintain them through monthly CVR processes

* Produce monthly CVRs, ensuring all cost categories are reviewed and projections updated

* Analyse subcontract packages and maintain an accurate SBS valuation of works

* Ensure client and supply-chain variations are captured, priced, agreed and processed in a timely manner

* Submit subcontract valuations within contractual timescales, including all necessary legal notifications

* Prepare and submit client valuations, maximising value and maintaining strong cashflow positions

* Support the contract team in ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with contractual obligations
In order to be successful in this role you must have:

* Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience

* years’ experience in a similar Quantity Surveyor role.

* Strong commercial awareness

* Proficiency in IT, particularly Microsoft Excel

* Able to prioritise and organise a varied workload

* Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team

* Up-to-date technical accounting knowledge relevant to construction

* Good problem-solving skills

* Full UK driving licence
It would be great if you had:

* Experience with in energy efficiency or social housing sectors.

* Experience supervising or managing people.
