Senior Mechanical Estimator

£65,000 – £70,000 per annum + Car Allowance/Company Car + Benefits Permanent Coventry (Hybrid/Flexible Working Available)

Harper Recruitment Group are working in partnership with a well-established and growing mechanical building services contractor. They are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to join their commercial team and take ownership of the estimating function as the business continues to expand into larger, full mechanical packages.

This newly created role offers exposure to high-value commercial and industrial projects ranging from £250,000 to £5 million, with the opportunity to influence tender strategy, support pre-construction activity and contribute to the company’s long‑term growth plans.

• Mechanical estimating - Producing accurate mechanical estimates and tender submissions
• Technical review - Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation
• Project pricing - Pricing commercial and industrial mechanical building services projects
• Supplier engagement - Obtaining and evaluating quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
• Cost breakdowns - Preparing detailed cost breakdowns, tender reports and supporting commercial decision‑making
• Pre‑construction collaboration - Working closely with design, QS and project management teams to support tender strategy
• Value engineering - Identifying value engineering opportunities to improve competitiveness
• Commercial acumen - Assessing risk, margin, programme and scope considerations within tender submissions
• Project handover - Supporting structured handovers to the delivery team
• Relationship building - Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
• Tender management - Managing multiple tenders simultaneously while meeting submission deadlines
• Software proficiency - Using estimating software and spreadsheet based tools to produce accurate costings

• Proven estimating experience within the mechanical contracting sector
• Strong understanding of mechanical building services systems and commercial tendering
• Experience using estimating software or similar digital tools
• Excellent analytical, numerical and organisational skills
• Confident communicator with the ability to liaise professionally with clients, consultants and suppliers
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to deadlines
• Full UK Driving Licence

• £5,000 annual car allowance during probation
• Company car upon successful completion of probation
