This is an exciting opportunity for a Construction Planner to play a key role in the planning, monitoring and control of specialist civil engineering projects.
Working closely with Project Managers, Site Teams and Commercial Teams, the Construction Planner will develop and maintain project programmes from tender stage through to completion.
As the Construction Planner, you will help identify risks, monitor progress, support programme reporting and provide accurate information that enables informed project decision-making.
DUTIES- Develop Project Programmes:
Create and maintain detailed project programmes from tender stage through to completion - Monitor Project Progress:
Update programmes to reflect actual performance and support accurate reporting - Identify Critical Path
Activities:
Review project sequencing, highlight programme risks and support effective project delivery - Produce Look-Ahead Programmes:
Prepare short and long-term look‑ahead programmes for internal teams, clients and project stakeholders - Analyse Delays:
Review delays, assess programme impact and recommend practical recovery strategies - Monitor Project Resources:
Track labour, plant, materials and subcontractor resources against programme requirements - Prepare Programme Reports:
Produce clear programme updates for internal meetings, client meetings and project reviews - Support Tender Planning:
Assist with tender planning, pre‑construction activities and wider project controls - Assist with Programme Changes:
Support programme changes, variations and extension of time claims - Liaise with Stakeholders:
Communicate with clients, subcontractors, Project Managers, Site Teams and Commercial Teams - Improve Planning Processes:
Support continuous improvement in planning processes and programme management
- Experience in a planning role within civil engineering or construction
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and project delivery
- Experience using planning software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across project teams
- Proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Work on major infrastructure projects across the UK
