Project Surveyor - Tier-1 Main Contractor

Location:

Coventry & Surrounding Area (Site/Regional Office)

Salary: £48,000 - £62,000 + Executive Benefits Package

They are currently seeking an experienced and ambitious Project Surveyor to join their commercial team in the Coventry area.

The Role Stepping in as a key commercial "No. 2" within an established project team, the successful candidate will work alongside senior commercial leaders and Project Managers to drive the commercial success and financial health of major construction schemes in the West Midlands.

Key Responsibilities

Subcontractor Commercial Management

Lead the procurement of subcontract packages from enquiry stage to final account.

Assemble enquiry documentation, analyze subcontractor quotations, and make formal commercial recommendations.

Prepare and issue robust subcontract order documentation.

Oversee interim subcontractor valuations, payments, variation negotiations, and final account agreements.

Project Delivery & Financial Control

Produce accurate Monthly and Quarterly Cost Value Reports (CVRs), including cash flow forecasts and project margin projections.

Manage client valuations, measure and negotiate client variations, and secure progress payments through to final account.

Work collaboratively with the Project Manager to align commercial strategies with construction schedules.

Ensure full compliance with business governance, internal best practice procedures, and health and safety regulations.

Strategic & Commercial Risk Management

Participate actively in identifying key project risks and opportunities, developing effective mitigation strategies.

Support the integration of BIM and computer-aided measurement tools to maximize efficiency and commercial accuracy.

Maintain strong, professional relationships with clients, external consultants, and supply chain partners.

Candidate Profile

Track Record:
Proven commercial experience working for a main contractor within the UK construction industry.

Qualifications:

Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, and either holding or actively working toward MRICS, MCIOB, or an equivalent professional status.

Positioning:
Comfortable operating as a dedicated No. 2 surveyor on major projects, with a strong ambition to take ownership of individual packages and progress into lead roles.

Technical

Skills:

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with hands-on experience using BIM and digital measurement software.

Soft Skills:

An expert negotiator with exceptional attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication skills, and a collaborative team ethos.
