Job Title: Teacher of Design & Technology (Maternity Cover)

Location: Coventry

Start Date: February 2026 (approx.)

Contract Type: Maternity cover – approximately 10 months

Working Pattern: Full-time

The school is looking for a committed and creative Design & Technology Teacher who can inspire students across all abilities. This is an excellent opportunity to deliver practical and engaging lessons that build skills in design, engineering, and problem-solving, helping students develop confidence, independence, and a love of making.

The ideal candidate will be innovative, organised, and able to bring ideas to life in both theory and practical lessons. You will work closely with students to nurture curiosity, resilience, and creativity, while supporting them to achieve their full potential as a Design & Technology Teacher

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Have strong subject knowledge in Design & Technology, including experience with practical projects, CAD, and materials
• Understand the curriculum and how to deliver lessons that are both engaging and effective
• Be able to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, fostering a collaborative learning environment

The Design & Technology Department at the school is a central part of the curriculum, inspiring students to develop practical skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. The team delivers a broad range of topics, from traditional materials and woodworking to modern manufacturing techniques, CAD, and product design.

Lessons are carefully planned to challenge students while supporting progress. Students benefit from structured projects, assessment, and targeted interventions where necessary. The department encourages innovation, independent thinking, and real-world application of skills, ensuring students leave with both confidence and competence in design and technology.
