AboutThe Role
We are seeking to appoint a motivated individual to take on the role of Associate SENDCo. Under the direction of SENDCo you will be responsible for day‑to‑day operation of the SEND policy and co‑ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability, with a particular focus on KS4.
You will be expected to fulfil the professional responsibilities of a teacher by providing professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies.
Qualifications and Experience- A Qualified Teacher Status and knowledge of inclusion / SEND including Cognition and Learning (e.g. MLD), Communication and Interaction (e.g. ASD), Physical and Sensory (e.g. visual impairment) or Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (e.g. anxiety)
- A good understanding of the needs and characteristics of students across the age range 11-19
- Administrative skills including experience of using a range of computer packages, navigating software and operating Microsoft Office
- An awareness of, and sympathetic approach towards the difficulties likely to face children with special needs
- An understanding of equal opportunity issues and an awareness of what this involves
All staff are expected to know what to do if they have concerns about a child, take on the responsibility for providing a safe environment and promoting children’s welfare, undertake regular safeguarding and child protection training and familiarise themselves with KCSIE part 1 and local policies and procedures as directed by the trust/academy.
