Position: Teacher of French (KS2–KS4, with KS5 potential)

Teacher of French (KS2–KS4, with KS5 potential)

There’s no school quite like Pattison. Our small, inclusive independent school is proud of its historic roots in the performing arts, its warm and welcoming atmosphere, and our unwavering commitment to every child’s success.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-qualified Teacher of French to join our Senior and Prep School teams. The successful candidate will teach French across Years 3 to 11, including GCSE, and support the school’s broader mission through pastoral duties and a form tutor role.

This post is for 4 days a week, with the possibility of becoming full time depending on additional subject expertise (e.g., another MFL or complementary academic/vocational subject). Experience teaching A-Level French would be an advantage, but is not essential.

About the role

You will:

  • Take responsibility for the planning, delivery and development of French across the senior school.
  • Secure high standards of teaching, learning and assessment in line with school policies and procedures.
  • As the lead specialist teacher of French, the postholder will work closely with senior leaders to drive standards, monitor progress and contribute to the school’s wider improvement strategy.
  • Help create a calm, safe, and structured environment that promotes confidence, independence, and learning.
About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Strong subject knowledge and high-quality classroom practice
  • Confidence to lead a subject area independently and take ownership of curriculum and outcomes
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Strong assessment, tracking and organisational skills

Effective communication skills with pupils, parents and colleagues
  • Ability to reflect on practice and implement positive change
  • Experience of teaching French at Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Experience of preparing pupils for GCSE French
  • Evidence of securing good pupil progress and examination outcome
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
About Pattison School

Pattison is a small, nurturing independent school with a strong tradition in the performing arts and a forward-looking approach to education. Our pupils benefit from small class sizes, excellent pastoral care, and a personalised curriculum. As we prepare to launch our sixth form and expand our academic and vocational pathways, now is an exciting time to join our team.
