The Education Engagement Service (EES) strives to deliver outstanding services for our customers, predominantly the children of Coventry, who may require access to education or alternative education provision. We ensure vulnerable children are appropriately supported; have a voice, which hopefully leads to their high achievement and excellent progress.
The EES is made up of a diverse range of teams all working together to recognise, support and apply innovative solutions to address the growing issues in relation to trying to educate some of our most vulnerable pupils in schools.
The service is responsible for delivering statutory duties for the Council in respect of:
- Pupil attendance enforcement
- 6th day provision for permanently excluded pupils; and
- The administration of the Fair Access and Supported Transfer process
- Traded support for Students with SEMHL and attendance needs

What is the job role?An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit 1 Education, Engagement and Inclusion Practitioner to our team, working under the management of the Education, Entitlement, Senior Education Engagement & Inclusion Officer.
The post is initially temporary – 36 hours a week, term‑time only – for 18 months from September 2026.
Please note that the advertised salary has already been adjusted to reflect term‑time‑only part‑time work.
You will be part of a team that is based at Cannon Park SEN Annex but works in and out of Primary, Secondary schools, homes and Alternative Provisions, One Friargate and across the City.
The main function of the role is to deliver restorative, play, behavioural and well‑being interventions to children and young people across the City.
This will involve working with a range of primary and secondary pupils (aged 5‑16) who may have Emotional, Behavioural or Special Educational Needs.
The role will also involve working with excluded students and those in danger of permanent exclusion, as well as supporting transition between mainstream schools and other settings.
Please note that this role is fixed‑term, term‑time only for 18 months.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and as such, appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
