PMLD Teacher; Maternity Cover

About the role:

Justteachers is currently recruiting a compassionate and experienced PMLD Teacher for a full‑time maternity cover role at a specialist SEN school located in Coventry. This role is to start in July 2026 and expected to last until May 2027.

This welcoming and well‑resourced school supports children and young people with complex needs, including profound learning difficulties, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and significant medical conditions. The school provides a nurturing, person‑centred environment where every pupil receives tailored support to develop communication, independence, and life skills.

• Plan and deliver highly differentiated, multi‑sensory lessons that meet individual EHCP targets.
• Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and medical staff to support pupils’ complex needs.
• Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that supports learning and well‑being.
• Use a range of communication methods including PECS or Makaton.
• Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting strategies to meet changing needs.

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Experience teaching pupils with PMLD or in a complex needs/SEN setting is highly desirable.
• A creative, flexible, and patient approach to meeting pupils’ wide‑ranging needs.
• Ability to lead a team of support staff effectively.
• Two recent education‑based references.
