Competitive starting salary range from £38,781 up to £44,093 per annum (dependent upon experience) with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered

The Role

As a Lecturer (Teaching) in Sport Coaching you will undertake teaching and course co‑ordination while supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programs and other core activities ensuring students have an effective learning experience.

Based within the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Science you will work closely with other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.

Duties include:

  • Teach on modules and courses at HE levels 4-7 in relevant academic subject areas including curation, adaptation and creation of module teaching materials, delivering a variety of types of students learning sessions and supporting students as appropriate through informal and formal communication throughout teaching semesters
  • The role would contribute to teaching on a range of topics across our sports courses including, but not limited to; sports coaching, psychology, motor learning, pedagogy, physical development / physical literacy, research methods and project supervision
  • Continuous improvement of the student experience and have clear appreciation of industry application and impact
  • Demonstrate a passion for coach development and evidence practical coaching skills
  • A clear appreciation of the connectivity between theory and practice and the ability to foster industry partnerships to develop partnership for both student placements and both staff and student project work
Qualifications Required
  • Master’s degree in an appropriate subject or Honours Degree with appropriate professional qualification and/or membership
  • A teaching qualification or acceptance of the requirement to acquire one if not already held
  • PhD or active membership of an appropriate professional body would be advantageous
Our Successful Candidate

You will have demonstrable experience of successful teaching at higher education levels 4-7 in Sports Coaching with high standards of teaching, learning and student engagement consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning.

Enthusiastic and self‑motivated, you will have experience supporting, enhancing and engaging in an ‘active learning’ pedagogy with evidence in proactively supporting student success.

As a global education provider, experience and awareness of learners cultural differences and expectations with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

Innovation and collaboration are key to our success, therefore the ability to work both independently and part of a wider team with the willingness to engage in flexible ways of working are key skills required for this role.

Experience of previously working/teaching within a school environment (ages 12-16 years) would be advantageous.
