About the vacancy

Myrddin School is an inclusive English medium primary setting serving 120 pupils aged 3-11 in Carmarthen. Alongside its mainstream provision, the school hosts a well-established specialist ALN provision supporting learners with autism, severe and profound learning difficulties, sensory impairments and complex additional learning needs. The school is recognised for its nurturing ethos, strong commitment to inclusion and personalised approach to learning, ensuring that every pupil is supported to achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities and Expectations

We are looking for a leader who:

  • Can drive continuous improvement through evidence-informed decision-making, ensuring high-quality teaching, learning and support for all pupils.
  • Understands the importance of wellbeing for both pupils and staff and prioritises creating a nurturing environment where everyone can flourish.
  • Has a strong understanding of Curriculum for Wales and a commitment to delivering ambitious, authentic and meaningful learning experiences.
Salary, Hours and Conditions

Salary:
From L12 £ 69,088 to L18* £79,288. The full‑time salary quoted (based on full time equivalent) will be pro‑rated if part time.

Full-time, Permanent.

Location:

Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire. Grade:
Head Teachers/Assistant Head Teachers/Deputy Head Teacher Pay and Conditions.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants applying for their first Headteacher appointment must hold the NPQH. We are happy to consider applicants who are on the current cohort of the NPQH programme.

DBS:
Enhanced with Barred List Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be requested. It is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children or adults at risk.

Welsh language level – verbal:
Level 3 – You will need a good level of conversational Welsh. Reasonable support can be provided on appointment to reach this level.
