BSL Level 2 TA

About the role

Justteachers is looking to appoint a BSL Level 2 qualified Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team in a special educational needs (SEN) setting in Coventry. This full‑time role offers a fantastic opportunity to support children and young people with hearing impairments and additional learning needs in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

The school caters to pupils with a range of needs including deafness, communication difficulties, autism, and complex learning challenges. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping every learner access the curriculum and develop both academically and personally.

• Use British Sign Language (BSL Level
  2) to support students with hearing impairments in and out of the classroom.
• Work closely with teachers and other support staff to deliver tailored learning support.
• Assist in implementing EHCP targets and adapting resources to meet individual communication needs.
• Foster positive relationships to promote students’ confidence, independence, and well‑being.
• Provide support with behaviour management and emotional regulation using a patient, inclusive approach.

• Previous BSL Level 2 qualification (essential).
• Experience working in a school or SEN environment is highly desirable.
• A calm, adaptable, and empathetic approach to supporting learners with complex needs.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and external professionals.
• Two relevant references, ideally from an education or care background.
