Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a resilient, empathetic, and committed Autism Support Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for young people aged 3-19 with a range of disabilities and Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
This is a hands-on role
that requires flexibility
, as each day can bring new challenges and changes. You’ll be working across various key stages, supporting pupils who may struggle to engage in a typical classroom environment. Your role will be to help them feel safe, understood, and capable of progress.
We’re looking for someone with a calm and patient approach
, who can build positive relationships and apply effective de-escalation techniques when needed. The ability to remain composed under pressure is essential in helping pupils feel supported and ready to learn.
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN and challenging behaviours
- Resilient, patient and understanding attitude
- Support pupils with mobility and sensory needs where required.
- Deliver consistent 1:1 and
small group support during lessons and daily activities tailored to individual pupil need - The ability to implement strategies to manage and de-escalate behaviour effectively
- A commitment to encouraging the pupil’s engagement, confidence, and emotional development
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Teaching Personnel can provide guidance to help you obtain:
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
- An Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service
- Level 2 Safeguarding training
- At least two professional references covering the past two years

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
