SEND Support Worker (Full Time, Temporary/Permanent)

Job Summary

SEND Support Workers are required to support pupils with autism, severe learning difficulties and complex needs within a specialist Coventry school. This rewarding role is ideal for caring, proactive and enthusiastic individuals from education, care, healthcare or support work backgrounds who are passionate about helping young people achieve their full potential.

The School and Role

This school supports learners with a range of additional needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and complex medical needs and provides a highly personalised curriculum focused on developing the skills learners need for the life they want.

The school is looking to appoint dedicated SEND Support Workers to work alongside experienced teachers, therapists and support staff. You will support pupils to access learning, develop communication skills, build independence and engage in sensory and practical learning activities tailored to their individual needs.

This role is ideal for candidates from care, residential, healthcare, support work, youth work or education backgrounds who are looking for a rewarding career supporting children and young people with additional needs. The role may include supporting personal care, mobility and medical needs where required.

Requirements

The desired SEND Support Worker will have;

  • Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults is desirable
  • A caring, patient and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A willingness to support personal care where required
  • A passion for supporting pupils with SEND
