What skills and experience we're looking for

Are you an organised and enthusiastic professional looking for a rewarding role in education? Are you passionate about promoting reading, literacy and a love of learning? Do you thrive in a dynamic environment where you can inspire students and support the curriculum? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, then this role could be for you!

We are seeking a skilled and personable Librarian to join our committed team at Alder Community High School. This is a key role in fostering a vibrant reading culture, coordinating and delivering targeted reading interventions, supporting students' independent learning and research skills, and maintaining an engaging, well-organised library that serves our whole school community.

Working as part of our dedicated support team, you will manage all aspects of the school library, promoting reading for pleasure and supporting curriculum delivery across all subjects and year groups. You will coordinate and deliver evidence-based reading interventions to support students who need additional help with their literacy development, working closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to identify pupils' needs and track their progress.

You will provide excellent support to students and staff, curate inspiring book collections and displays, and develop engaging library activities and events. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of library resources, loans and intervention outcomes, managing the library management system effectively, and helping to create a welcoming, inclusive and inspiring learning environment for our whole school community.

The successful candidate will need to have excellent communication skills, along with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and young people. Your enthusiasm and proactive, ‘can do’ attitude will be amongst your strengths.
