The RoleWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced Technology Manager / Resource Manager to join our Technology Adoption (TA) leadership team within the Industrial Transformation Group. TA comprises three key sub‑teams:
Digital Transformation, Automation Transformation, and Technology Transformation. This pivotal role combines technical leadership with people and resource management. You will lead a team of over 40 Advisors and Engineers, strategically deploying resources across diverse projects and ensuring the team remains at the forefront of manufacturing technology. You’ll also contribute to technical delivery, shaping project activities such as feasibility studies, technology down‑selection, secure digital systems design, and supply chain research.
- Provide leadership and line management for pod leads, fostering collaboration and innovation.
- Strategically deploy resources across project portfolios to maximise impact and efficiency.
- Identify training needs and create Personal Development Plans for team members.
- Drive future capability development plans and mitigate at‑risk skillsets.
- Support reporting of departmental delivery planning metrics, including earnings forecasts and capacity gaps.
- Lead and contribute to technical delivery of TA projects, ensuring high‑quality outcomes.
- Represent MTC externally at conferences, technical forums, and stakeholder meetings.
- Degree in engineering, technology, science, or equivalent industrial experience.
- Proven experience in resource planning and technical team leadership.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
- Experience fostering a positive team culture and supporting career development.
- Chartered Engineer (or working towards).
- Experience across a range of technologies or industrial sectors.
- Track record of embedding technology to improve manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of UK manufacturing, Catapult network, and funding landscape.
