Deliver, and optimise solar thermal systems for residential and multi‑residential housing projects. This role sits at the intersection of renewable energy, building services engineering, and social housing, with a strong focus on low‑carbon heating and hot water solutions. The successful post holder will work closely with installers and local authorities to ensure systems are technically sound, compliant, and cost‑effective.
Responsibilities- Install, commission, service, and repair solar thermal systems
- Diagnose and resolve technical faults efficiently and effectively
- Carry out heat demand calculations, system sizing, and performance modelling
- Produce technical drawings, schematics, and specifications
- Support the integration of solar thermal with heat pump technologies
- Ensure compliance with building regulations, planning requirements, and renewable energy standards
- Support planning applications, energy strategies, and sustainability statements
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and architectural teams
- Oversee installation quality, commissioning and system performance testing
- Troubleshoot system issues and provide technical support during and post‑installation
- Evaluate system performance and recommend improvements or optimisations
- Stay up to date with advancements in solar thermal technologies and housing regulations
- Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds, BPEC, or equivalent Electrical qualification (essential)
- Solar PV Installer Qualification (Level
3) (essential) - Full valid UK driving licence (essential)
- Experience with heat pumps, district heating or hybrid renewable systems
- Proven experience designing or delivering solar thermal systems, ideally within the social housing or built environment sector
- Strong understanding of domestic hot water and low‑temperature heating systems
- Experience with system sizing tools and energy modelling software
- Ability to interpret architectural and MEP drawings
- Strong technical report writing and communication skills
