Site Engineer

Location: Binley Woods

A reputable civil engineering contractor with a turnover of approximately £40m is seeking a Freelance Site Engineer to join the team on a major highways upgrade project.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a significant infrastructure scheme delivering a broad range of highways and associated civils works.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Engineer and Site Agent, you will support the successful delivery of key packages across the project, ensuring works are carried out accurately, safely, and in accordance with programme requirements.

The project will involve:

- Earthworks
- Drainage installation
- RC structures and associated civils
- Kerbing and paving
- Highways construction works
- Ducting and utilities coordination
- General infrastructure works

Key Responsibilities

- Setting out and surveying works on site
- Ensuring works are delivered in line with drawings and specifications
- Carrying out quality checks and maintaining QA documentation
- Producing as-built records
- Supporting subcontractor management and coordination
- Assisting with permits, RAMS, and site documentation
- Monitoring progress and reporting to the senior management team
- Maintaining high standards of health and safety on site

Requirements

- Previous experience working as a Site Engineer on highways or civil engineering projects
- Strong background in earthworks, drainage, structures, and paving
- Competent using surveying equipment and interpreting technical drawings
- Experience completing QA documentation and as-built records
- CSCS card essential
- SMSTS or SSSTS beneficial
- Good communication and organisational skills
