Overview

Metalock Engineering UK Ltd currently has vacancies in the On‑Site Machining Department. Positions available:
Orbital Machinists and On‑Site Machinists, permanent based in Coventry, England with extensive overseas travel on and offshore. Applicants will report to the Technical Director and Area Managers.

Job Requirements
  • Full-time apprenticeship evidence in the respective discipline
  • Proficient with Imperial and Metric measuring equipment
  • Willingness to work on small, medium and large‑scale on‑site machining contracts onshore, offshore, UK, Ireland, Mainland Europe and worldwide
Specific Responsibilities
  • Conduct surveys of potential work to obtain relevant technical, administrative and commercial information for method proposal and quotation.
  • Prepare all orbital machining equipment and associated tooling.
  • Carry out on‑site surveys worldwide.
  • Control job costs within planned levels.
  • Record all pre‑ and post‑machining measurements for QA/QC reporting.
  • Complete timesheets for customer signature.
  • Capture photos and video for reporting and promotional purposes where possible.
  • Maximise opportunities for additional work on site and negotiate customer acceptance of extra charges.
  • Promote and assist in further developing the on‑site machining business.
  • Mentor and train technicians in on‑site orbital machining techniques.
  • Ensure equipment is properly stored and maintained.
  • Apply the company’s Health & Safety / Environment policy.
  • Use protective clothing and equipment properly.
  • Follow safe practices on site.
  • Ensure used equipment is correctly packed and stored for return from site and highlight defects to the workshop manager.
