As a Regional Engineer, you’ll provide technical leadership and engineering support across Bodycote’s UK sites, driving improvements in equipment reliability, maintenance, safety and operational performance. Based in Coventry, the role involves regular UK travel and overnight stays.
You’ll lead and develop regional engineering teams through recruitment, training, competency reviews and development planning, while promoting consistent engineering standards and best practice.
You’ll monitor MTTR and MTBF, oversee planned maintenance, critical spares and CMMS activity, and use root cause analysis to identify and eliminate recurring failures.
You’ll provide technical escalation during equipment failures and quality issues, coordinate additional support when required, and drive continuous improvement across safety, reliability, cost, uptime and energy performance.
You’ll also support regional engineering compliance, risk assessments, audits and incident investigations, working closely with site, EHS and project teams to maintain safe, reliable and efficient operations.
The role requires flexibility to provide technical support outside normal working hours, including weekends and bank holidays.
Key Essentials:Who We’re Looking For
- Proven engineering leadership experience within a multi‑site manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong experience in maintenance, asset reliability and engineering improvement.
- Experience managing and developing engineering teams, including training, competency, performance and succession planning.
- Strong understanding of planned and reactive maintenance, condition‑based monitoring and root cause analysis.
- Experience using CMMS systems and engineering performance data.
- Strong understanding of UK engineering health, safety and compliance requirements.
- Experience analysing equipment performance, identifying recurring failures and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and respond quickly to operational and technical issues.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively across the UK, including overnight stays.
- Engineering qualification or equivalent technical experience.
- IOSH Managing Safely.
- NEBOSH General Certificate.
- SMSTS or equivalent construction management training.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
- Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification.

This role is based in Coventry, with extensive travel required across Bodycote’s UK sites and regular overnight stays.
