The Role
Our client, a global leader in armour technology and vehicle integration for the defence and security sector, is looking for a Design Engineer to join their Coventry team. You'll work on vehicle protection and integration systems used on defence programmes worldwide, taking designs from concept through to production. This is a hands-on 3D CAD role working with complex materials and assemblies that need to perform in demanding operational environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Own mechanical designs from concept to low/medium-volume manufacture, producing 3D models and detailed engineering drawings
* Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain to balance weight, cost, performance and durability
* Support integration of specialist equipment into armoured vehicles
* Manage CAD data, BoMs and drawing packs using PLM tools (Windchill preferred)
* Support design reviews, testing and iterative design improvement across multiple projects
What We're Looking For
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
* Background in defence, aerospace or automotive engineering
* Proficient in 3D CAD, Solid Works essential;
Creo (9.0+) highly desirable
* Working knowledge of fabrication, machining and composite materials
* Practical, hands-on problem-solver with a manufacturability and quality mindset
* CEng status, or working towards it, is an advantage
