We're looking for an experienced Head of Engineering to lead engineering services across University Hospital Coventry, one of the UK's largest and most complex healthcare environments.

This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the hospital's engineering infrastructure remains safe, compliant and effective, supporting the delivery of outstanding patient care every day.

Working closely with the Head of Estates and wider leadership team, you'll oversee engineering service delivery across mechanical, electrical and building fabric assets, while driving continuous improvement, compliance and operational performance.

What you'll be doing

  • Managing specialist contractors and engineering partners.
  • Ensuring compliance with healthcare, statutory and contractual requirements.
  • Supporting planned maintenance, lifecycle programmes and capital projects.
  • Driving service improvement and engineering best practice.

What we're looking for

  • Understanding of critical healthcare systems, including electrical infrastructure, medical gases and ventilation.
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.

Candidates from both mechanical and electrical backgrounds will be considered, although an electrical bias would be advantageous.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile healthcare contract where you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining and developing critical engineering services that directly support patient care.
