Our Environment DivisionWorking within the Finance team supporting our Environment Division, which primarily operates within the UK Water sector. The division delivers complex, regulated infrastructure projects for major water clients nationwide.
Purpose of the RoleAn opportunity has arisen for a Management Accountant to join the Environment Division Finance team. The team consists of approximately 17 finance professionals, working collaboratively to support the wider business.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely financial information for two business units, supporting decision-making across the Environment Division. You will work closely with Finance Managers, Finance Assistants and the wider commercial teams.
Key Accountabilities- Preparation of monthly management accounts and month-end reporting.
- Analysis of business performance, including variance analysis and financial review meetings.
- Weekly cash forecasting and monitoring of receipts.
- Balance sheet reconciliations and ongoing financial analysis.
- Preparation and posting of cost ledger and general ledger journals.
- Review of payment runs, payroll allocations and cost-to-employ accruals.
- Monitoring cost recovery and maintaining accurate project data within finance systems.
- Review of VAT returns and responding to finance queries from commercial teams.
- Supervision and day-to-day support of a Finance Assistant.
- Qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA) or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience in a Management Accountant or similar role.
- Strong technical accounting skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel capability and confidence working with large data sets.
- Experience meeting weekly and monthly reporting deadlines.
- Comfortable supervising or supporting junior finance staff.
- Experience using Oracle / Fusion or similar finance systems desirable but not essential.
Success in this role will be demonstrated through the delivery of accurate, timely and insightful financial information, including:
- Cash forecasts
- Management accounts packs
- Balance sheet packs and reconciliations
- Cost allocation and analysis outputs
