Salary: £35,608 to £46,049 per annum

Additional Payments: A £2,000 per annum market supplement (pro‑rated and non‑pensionable) is available for the successful applicant who provides proof of membership of an approved accounting body and appropriate accountancy qualifications.

About the Role

You will be responsible for overseeing key aspects of monthly and quarterly financial reporting within Research Finance, working closely with the Head of Finance (Research) and Research Finance Managers to manage a portfolio of high‑priority, externally funded research projects.

Your responsibilities also include developing and enhancing procedures and systems, providing flexible cover for Finance Managers and Senior Research Finance Assistants, managing audits, supervising a small team, and supporting the induction of new staff.

About You

Ambitious and proactive professional with strong communication and organisational skills, proven experience in a finance environment, and sound knowledge of accounting standards and management accounting principles.

Recognised CCAB or CIMA professional accountancy qualification is essential.

Excellent IT proficiency, including advanced Excel skills, and a solid understanding of large‑scale financial information systems such as SAP.

Ability to manage a diverse portfolio of research projects, applying expertise to reporting and analysis within a complex and fast‑paced setting.
