The role will involve rotations across Financial Management and Financial Services to gain maximum exposure and knowledge of the different aspects of NHS finance, attaining valuable work experience whilst learning on the job alongside studying for a nationally recognised qualification – the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).
Within Financial Management there will be a requirement to undertake general duties including maintaining spreadsheets, assisting in the month‑end reporting process, raising invoices/credit notes, and responding to general finance queries from colleagues, both within and outside the Trust. With the rotation to Financial Accounts there will be an opportunity to gain exposure to Accounts Payable and Receivable.
Qualifications & Eligibility- Must be aged 16 or over.
- Must be a Resident in the UK/EEA for the last three years.
- Must not be in any form of formal government‑funded education.
The interview will take place in late June and early July, subject to availability. The advert will close as soon as sufficient applications have been received.
Job responsibilities- Calculate and enter transactions in the General Ledger under the supervision of the Finance Manager/Deputy Commercial Finance Manager.
- Raise invoices as required by colleagues within the Finance Team.
- Assist in producing accurate information to support financial reports.
- Prepare Annual Budget and Monthly Reporting for the assigned Group(s) according to the departmental framework and timetable.
- Support colleagues within the Finance Teams to ensure activities comply with the Trust’s prevailing financial procedures and controls.
- Distribute Budget Reports and Nominal Roll for Budget Holders in line with the agreed monthly reporting timetable.
- Register invoices ensuring accuracy and appropriate authorisation in the purchase ledger system.
- Assist the Department in achieving BPP targets by reviewing reports and liaising with authorisers/suppliers.
- Under the guidance of the Financial Accountant undertake additional duties and procedures required to complete internal and external reports.
- Attend apprenticeship programme training and complete units within deadlines.
- Shadow team members, attend meetings and undertake learning opportunities.
- Attend training sessions, workshops and e‑learning modules as directed.
- Maintain good time‑keeping, attendance and dress code compliance.
