The Specialist Investigations Team within Economic Crime have the new opportunity to join them as an Internal Investigator, playing a vital role in safeguarding the Group’s assets and protecting its reputation. The role holder will contribute to a wide range of investigations into serious misconduct, threats and criminal activity involving colleagues, contractors and customers, ensuring that all matters are handled thoroughly, professionally and with integrity.

This is a 12 month opportunity.

This role will be responsible for conducting internal investigations, including supporting on the most complex investigation including whistleblowing and wider business referrals. The person in post will undertake interviews, gather and assess evidence, maintain accurate records and produce clear, impartial findings, including recommended next steps and identification of lessons learned. They will also support the coordination of team activity, contributing to procedural reviews, control improvements and performance metrics to strengthen the Group’s approach to preventing, detecting and disrupting internal fraud.

Working closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders, the person in post will support whistleblowing processes, investigate employee fraud screening concerns and carry out regular reviews of internal fraud prevention and detection controls. The role holder will represent the Specialist Investigations Team in key meetings and play an active part in enhancing risk management practices, ensuring a proactive and robust approach to managing internal threats across the organisation.

This role can operate from either our Head Office campus in Binley, Coventry or our Manchester office but as a Group role, travel to both locations will be required. A team-led hybrid working arrangement is in place.

** For this role you’ll need to have:
*** Experience of conducting and managing economic crime and / or misconduct investigations to a successful conclusion.
* Experience in developing and maintaining policies, procedures, and control documentation within a regulated or risk environment.
* Good understanding of economic crime and internal fraud typologies, with the ability to assess, understand, and mitigate associated risks.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
* Strong understanding of Economic Crime.
* Sound knowledge of banking regulation and legislation.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to persuade and influence others.
* Ability to identify and prioritise risks, achieve deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
* Good decision making ability whilst delivering evidenced based solutions.
* A sound understanding of risk, controls and governance processes within a financial services environment.
** Experience in these areas would be helpful:
*** Experience of investigating internal fraud or other serious misconduct issues.
* A sound understanding of, and experience using Group systems (hBank and/or hSociety)
* Proficient in MS Office including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
* A recognised qualification in investigations or willingness to undertake relevant training.##
