Financial Controller

Your new company A leading independent insurance business is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join its London-based finance leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong, qualified accountant to play a key role within a growing, entrepreneurial insurance organisation operating across multiple specialist underwriting businesses. Your new role

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the financial reporting activities across multiple insurance entities, ensuring accurate and timely reporting. Oversee statutory reporting under IFRS and group reporting to an international parent company. Maintain and enhance the financial control framework, ensuring strong governance and compliance. Manage the year-end audit process and build effective relationships with external auditors. Provide technical accounting expertise across areas including revenue recognition, acquisitions and share-based payments.

Partner with underwriting, claims and operations teams to deliver meaningful management information and analysis. Lead budgeting, forecasting and strategic financial planning activities. Oversee transactional finance processes, including payroll and insurance accounting activities. Drive continuous improvement and finance change initiatives across the business. What you'll need to succeed Qualified accountant (ACA) with significant post-qualified experience. Background within insurance, reinsurance, MGA or wider financial services environments.

Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise, ideally gained within a Top 10 or Big 4 audit firm and/or industry. Experience managing audits and operating within a robust control environment. Commercially minded with the ability to influence senior stakeholders. Hands-on, detail-oriented and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving business. Proven track record of improving processes and delivering change. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
