Overview

An experienced Occupational Therapist is required to join the Children's Intensive Support Team to provide specialist OT assessment and intervention for children with autism and learning disabilities, including challenging behaviour and sensory processing issues. The role is autonomous, working flexibly with complex caseloads and supporting a Band 7 OT.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist OT assessment and intervention to children with autism and learning disabilities.
  • Collaborate with families, schools, social care and other professionals.
  • Work in partnership with community and inpatient mental health services to prevent admission to tier 4 inpatient services.
  • Deliver tailored occupational therapy assessments, including functional and sensory assessments.
  • Provide expert advice, signposting, guidance and information to health and social care professionals, clients, carers and other non-professional contacts.
  • Work autonomously, holding a clinical caseload and working without direct supervision.
Qualifications
  • Qualified and registered Occupational Therapist with experience in autism and learning disabilities.
  • Working knowledge of people with autism, learning disabilities, challenging behaviour and sensory processing issues.
  • Experience with the Model of Human Occupation and standardised assessments.
  • Ability to manage complex caseloads flexibly and independently.
