Coventry and Warwickshire has a well-established and dynamic service for children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders, providing specialist assessment, diagnosis and intervention. As part of the team you will provide Occupational Therapy (OT) assessment and intervention for children and young people who may be autistic, have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Developmental Dyspraxia.
You will provide a holistic approach to working with their cognitive, motor, sensory, emotional and mental health needs to support their daily function and well being.
Responsibilities- Provide OT assessment and intervention for children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Support the child/young person and their close contacts to understand their neurodivergence, its impact on daily occupations and the support needed to thrive.
- Work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary and multiagency team in community settings such as schools, clinics and family homes.
- Deliver advice through consultation to other professionals and improve awareness and support for neurodivergent children across the children's directorate.
- Attend wider multidisciplinary forums to support case discussions and formulation from an OT perspective.
- Provide supervision of OT Assistants and student placements within the team.
- Support children and young people with multiple diagnoses, addressing barriers to accessing school and other services.
Motivated OT with a keen interest and experience in working with children and young people who are autistic, have ADHD or Developmental Dyspraxia. A good understanding of neurodevelopmental conditions, sensory integration and mental health is essential.
TravelTravel across a wide geographical area of Coventry & Warwickshire requires a car/driver or suitable alternative transport; public transport is unlikely to meet this requirement.
