Role Overview
We offer a region-leading Cardiac Imaging Service, providing the full repertoire of echocardiography including complex ACHD, 3D Echocardiography, pharmacological and exercise ischaemic stress echo, strain echocardiography, TOE, DSE, transcatheter structural intervention and cardio‑oncology echocardiography. We also provide advanced cardiac imaging input to regional hospitals and a range of West Midlands MDTs, and support CDC services.
Key Responsibilities- Be a competent practitioner in echocardiography procedures.
- Have advanced knowledge of products and procedures.
- Autonomously perform routine and complex diagnostic echocardiography procedures.
- Supervise and train other cardiac physiologists.
- Participate on a roster basis as required.
- Monitor and maintain the quality of services within echocardiography.
- Develop further highly technical and advanced practical skills in the complex echo service.
- Participate in the day‑to‑day running of the department, ensuring the smooth operation of a quality service.
- Triage and assess referred patients; monitor the appropriateness of referrals, obtain relevant information, interpret and report clinical findings, and ensure appropriate discharge or ongoing care.
- Encourage and support staff to obtain BSE accreditation.
- Provide teaching and support to all members of the department and medical staff who are learning technical cardiology.
- Encourage and develop a multidisciplinary approach to cardiac care.
- Ensure full national accreditation is maintained and undertake further training as required for professional development and service provision.

Qualificationsand Requirements
- Completed a BSc in Clinical Physiology (or equivalent).
- Hold full BSE accreditation in Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography.
- Meet the requirements detailed in the person specification and job description.
- Provide an immunisation and vaccination report from a UK occupational health provider or GP.
