Job Role ?
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Practitioner to join our Emergency Duty Team on a permanent part‑time basis. As a member of the Council’s Responsive Services, the Emergency Duty Team (out of hours social care) offers essential support services, generally outside of standard office hours to address urgent social care needs and ensure the likelihood of emergencies occurring is reduced.
The EDT provides an out‑of‑hours emergency service between 5 pm and 8.30 am throughout the week, including weekends, and is office based during these times. The team responds to safeguarding concerns relating to children, young people, their families and adults, and also provides an out‑of‑hours housing service.
- Oversee/support the work of Children and Family Workers.
- Respond to all requests for assistance received during the shift, with a focus on promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, adults and families of Coventry.
All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role. This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and will be conditional upon a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Qualifications- A current registration with Social Work England.
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
- Proven ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions.
- Knowledge of assessment methods, care management and casework methods.
- Experience of carrying out a range of statutory work with adults, children and housing matters.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with adults, children, young people and families.
