We are a friendly, experienced, supportive team, who want to promote research and open clinical trials which will provide patients with new treatments and medicines. You will be working with multi-disciplinary research teams including nurses, doctors and the pharmacy aseptic unit to set up clinical trials in pharmacy.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician with excellent communication skills, time management and someone with a high attention to detail.

Applicants are required to be a GPhC registered pharmacy technician with considerable hospital experience.

Clinical trial experience is not essential for this role, but would be desirable.

We would recommend having an informal chat or visit to understand more about the work we do and our team.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

Main duties of the job

You will :

  • Review and formally assess the feasibility of potential clinical trials within pharmacy across all areas of the department. This will include the dispensing of aseptic products and monitoring of trials run at ward level.
  • Help with the day to day running of current trials including training staff involved in dispensing trial medication so they feel confident and competent.
  • Ensure trial medication is stored correctly and dispensed to patients safely and in accordance with regulations and legislation.
  • Dealing with queries from research teams, patients and undertaking requests from sponsor monitors.

responsibilities
  • Interpret and dispense for final checking prescriptions, written for inpatients including controlled drugs, clinical trials, cytotoxic chemotherapy and total parenteral nutrition. This may include complex calculations and manipulations.
  • Ensure all extemporaneous dispensing in all pharmacy departments in the Trust is carried out to the required quality, Health & safety, COSSH standards by providing all department SOPs and documentation.
