Position: Consultant Practitioner, Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) Pathways

We are seeking an exceptional Consultant Nurse to join our Integrated Care & Community Services Group on a 12-FTC . This pivotal leadership role will provide strategic and operational oversight for all Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) pre-hospital delivery across Coventry, ensuring high-quality, safe, and responsive care for our population., This is a senior clinical leadership position responsible for driving excellence across our pre-hospital UEC services while supporting and developing our multidisciplinary workforce, including:

  • Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs)
  • Trainee ACPs
  • Clinical Practitioners
  • Allied Health Professionals (AHPs)
  • Registered Nurses

The post-holder will be instrumental in maintaining clinical standards, enhancing workforce capability, and ensuring robust governance within a dynamic community setting.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a clinical expert in the management of complex, acute and undifferentiated conditions within primary and community care and will fulfil the 4 domains of consultant practice: expert practice (the consultant's main health or social-care profession); strategic and enabling leadership; learning, developing and improving across the system; research and innovation. The post holder will practice at an advanced clinical level and exercise high levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in clinical care.

They will provide clinical leadership, expert practice, and advanced knowledge, integrating research evidence into practice and contributing to/leading on research within the clinical field of community services and primary care. The post holder will monitor and improve standards of care through supervision of practice, clinical audit, identifying research questions, disseminating research findings and promoting their translation into practice, teaching and supporting professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership.

As a member of the MDT, the post holder will be involved with, and where appropriate collaborate in national and international research contributing to relevant networks and forums, with the aim of supporting the development of a acute care delivered closer home.
