Anatomical Pathology Technician

Role Overview

To assist the Network Mortuary Manager and the Senior Anatomical Pathology Technicians (APTs) in the day‑to‑day running of the Trust's mortuaries.

Perform a broad range of technical work activities, ensuring efficient service delivery in accordance with Trust, Coroner's, and Department of Health regulations and requirements.

Participate in the on‑call forensic service (including out of hours) and be available for hospital enquiries across all three sites.

• Support the Network Mortuary Manager and Senior APTs in all operational aspects of the mortuaries.
• Carry out technical tasks and processes that meet Trust, Coroner's, and Department of Health standards.
• Participate in the forensic on‑call service and respond to hospital enquiries, working across University Hospital Coventry, South Warwickshire Foundation Hospital, and Rugby St Cross Hospital.
• Assist in maintaining HTA and UKAS compliance by conducting audits, formulating risk assessments and SOPs, and investigating incidents.
• Coordinate with the team to respond to incidents and maintain high quality standards.

• Full UK driving licence and access to own transport.
• Computer literate with experience using Microsoft packages.
• Excellent communication and keyboard skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks across sites.
• Experience or willingness to work within forensic mortuary services and adhere to Trust, CQC, and RCPath guidelines.
