The postholder will be directly leading and developing the UHCW outpatient pharmacy team, setting clear performance expectations and embedding robust standards that promote safe, high‑quality patient care and full regulatory compliance.

Main duties of the job

The Pharmacy Manager provides decisive operational leadership to ensure the safe, efficient, and financially sustainable delivery of pharmacy services. The postholder leads and develops the pharmacy team, setting clear performance expectations and embedding robust standards that promote safe, high‑quality patient care and full regulatory compliance.

They take responsibility for day‑to‑day service management, coordinating operational workflows, resolving issues proactively, and maintaining effective working relationships with clinical and non‑clinical stakeholders. The role also carries accountability for driving income generation, managing expenditure, and restoring efficient, reliable, and financially responsible operations. Through strong managerial oversight and continuous improvement, the postholder supports long‑term service excellence and organisational growth in alignment with company policies and strategic objectives.

SWFT Clinical Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of the South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT). The company provides a number of services such as outpatient pharmacy facilities at Warwick, Stratford upon Avon, George Eliot, University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire and St Cross (Rugby) hospitals; estates and facilities management at Warwick, Stratford upon Avon and Ellen Badger hospitals, Acorn House and Lillington Health Hub;

private patient service and consultancy services to NHS Trusts.

Subject to the Company and individual’s performance, an annual discretionary bonus will be awarded.

There is automatic enrolment to the Company pension scheme, with the Company contributing 5%.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Manage the pharmacy business to maximise its profitability in line with annual budgets and KPI’s. Control costs and ensure all colleagues operate in line with business requirements and initiatives.

Ensure the pharmacy complies with GPhC standards and other relevant guidance in order to provide safe pharmaceutical services where risks are minimised.

Ensure all colleagues comply with operational guidance, SOPs and company policies.

Ensure the pharmacy complies with the national NHS and local service contractual requirements and all other legal requirements relevant to the operation of a pharmacy.

Ensure all relevant stock control principles and policies are adhered to and pro‑actively drive down stock holding to ensure optimised stock levels are maintained.

Forward plan and manage all business activity to ensure required actions are completed in a timely fashion and to the required standard.

Embed exceptional patient and customer service as a core value within the pharmacy and ensure that all colleagues promote this core value with patients, customers and local healthcare professionals.
