Healthcare Assistant – Outpatients
The Meriden Hospital in Coventry, part of Circle Health Group, is offering a permanent 37.5‑hour role where the successful candidate will work in the Outpatients department. Salary up to £28,576 per year depending on experience, training and qualification.
Responsibilities- Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity.
- Help patients with eating, drinking and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
- Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment.
- Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
- Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care set‑up, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention and mobility aids.
- Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds and equipment in readiness for patient use.
- Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care.
- Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community or domiciliary).
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions and escalates concerns appropriately.
- Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
- Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control and confidentiality procedures.
