Pharmacy Purchasing Officer

We are looking for a dedicated, organised and motivated person to join us as a Pharmacy Purchasing Officer to maintain the supply chain of medicines and to support the processing of invoices for all pharmacy purchases.
ResponsibilitiesBased within the procurement team in the pharmacy department, you will support the safe and cost‑effective procurement of medicines for use within the trust and ensure all invoices are processed in line with supplier terms and conditions.
- Send approved orders via the Pharmacy Electronic Data Interchange Software (EDI) or email
- Process routine electronic and manual invoices using the EDI Software and the Pharmacy Stock Control System and refer any cost queries and anomalies to the Specialist Pharmacy Technician Procurement
- Answer telephone calls in a friendly and efficient manner with referral to other pharmacy staff as appropriate
- Assist with the processing of credits
- Input procurement data into the relevant spreadsheets and databases
- Good basic education, 4 GCSEs, including GCSE English
- Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
- ACDECL, NVQ2 ITQ or Business and Admin qualification or willing to work towards it
- Working towards CIPs or equivalent qualification
- Experience of working in a busy administrative environment
- Experience in a customer‑facing role
- Experience of working to deadlines
Experience of working in an office environment - Experience of working in procurement utilising e‑procurement systems
- Experience of Pharmacy Procurement
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Understanding of procurement processes and systems
- Understanding of Pharmacy Procurement
- Clear communication, both written and verbal
- Ability to maintain accurate records and information
- Prioritise and organise workload effectively
- Work well as part of a team
- Good numerical and keyboard skills
- Maintain concentration for prolonged periods of time when processing orders and inputting data
- Use electronic ordering systems including Powergate and JAC
- Use e‑mail system effectively
- Demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust's values
- Provide evidence of promoting equal opportunities through work experience for roles with managerial responsibility
