Are you an Occupational Therapist looking to extend your clinical experience with an exciting and interesting population? Do you have an interest in gaining experience within an occupational focused role in a multi-disciplinary setting?

There is currently a Band 6 vacancy within the Forensic Community Mental Health Team (FCMHT). You will be working with patients whose mental health has led to them engaging in criminal activities, which put others  an OT you will assess and provide interventions for individuals to build meaningful pro‑social roles and routines in order to reduce antisocial or criminal behaviour. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside probation and offender manager teams, building specialist risk assessment and intervention skills to support working with a forensic population.

Regular CPD opportunities are available, and you will be supported by OT‑focused clinical supervision.

• Understanding of the OT process
• Assessment of occupational needs, using a standardised OT model
• Tailored interventions that promote structured routine, build pro‑social relationships and allow meaningful use of time – interventions will be outcome‑measured
• Facilitating and designing occupational therapy groups
• Key working cases where occupational needs are the main treatment focus
• liaison with other professionals, including probation, police, offender managers and attending MAPPA meetings
• Completing initial suitability assessments for new patients referred to the team
• Supervisory role for students and junior staff
• Completing specialist forensic assessments, e.g. HCR‑20

• Relevant professional qualification in OT
• Current unrestricted registration with HCPC
• Professional knowledge acquired through degree or diploma
• Relevant training and experience from specialist short courses
• Evidence of continuing professional development

• Substantial experience in a mental health setting
• Experience of using recovery‑focused intervention
• Developed specialist clinical knowledge within a similar environment over a considerable period of time
• Significant experience of undertaking assessment, formulation, risk assessment and positive risk‑taking
• Experience of safeguarding
• Experience of supervising / overseeing staff and students

• Must have full driving licence and access to a motor vehicle for business use
