We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join the Brief Intervention Duty Team based in the heart of Coventry. This full-time locum role offers an attractive hourly rate of £22.00, working Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00, with an initial three-month contract and the potential for ongoing work. Based at 1 Lamb Street, you will play a key role in supporting individuals affected by substance misuse, delivering high-quality brief interventions and recovery-focused support to help them achieve positive outcomes.

What you will do
  • Provide recovery-focused support to individuals affected by drug and alcohol misuse, helping them achieve their personal recovery goals.
  • Complete comprehensive assessments and develop tailored brief intervention plans based on individual needs.
  • Deliver evidence-based brief interventions, harm reduction advice, and motivational support to encourage positive behavioural change.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, partner agencies, and community services to coordinate effective care and support.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case records in accordance with organisational policies and professional standards.
  • Facilitate group sessions, workshops, and educational activities that promote recovery, resilience, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Monitor client progress, reviewing and adapting intervention plans to support sustained recovery outcomes.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working within substance misuse, drug and alcohol services, or a related support role.
  • Knowledge of brief intervention techniques, recovery models, and harm reduction principles.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and caseload management skills.
  • Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • An enhanced DBS is desirable.
