We are looking for an exceptional, ambitious academic to lead Health Economics within the Warwick Screening Team, with expertise in Health Economics and Public Health modelling for screening programmes.

The appointee will join the rapidly expanding Warwick Screening team, a multidisciplinary team of researchers led by Professor Sian Taylor-Phillips based at Warwick Medical School (WMS). We specialise in evaluating health screening for a variety of conditions. Our work spans primary research, evidence review for national and international policymakers, and specialist teaching.

This exciting new post will involve leading health economics input into projects across the Warwick Screening portfolio; including supporting economic evaluation of screening programmes in large scale projects, leading economic modelling projects for policymakers such as the UK National Screening Committee in our Screening Evidence Synthesis Group, alongside primary research. You will provide senior leadership to junior and mid-career statisticians and health economists.

The successful candidate will attract substantial external research income to support a growing research team, lead national and international collaborations with partners in synergistic research areas; and contribute to the teaching of health economics at undergraduate and postgraduate level and play a key role in the supervision of research degree students.

Work undertaken will directly inform health policy at national and international levels.

We are seeking someone with a PhD in a relevant field, and a research background focused on health economics applied to health screening, with a proven track record of obtaining research funding and a portfolio of high-quality research outputs.

The successful postholder will be based within Warwick Applied Health (WAH), a dynamic and interdisciplinary research and education Directorate, led by Professor Lisa Dikomitis. WAH focuses on mental health, global health and screening, with a strong emphasis on improving healthcare quality and reducing inequalities. The postholder will contribute to and further strengthen the Warwick Screening research group, led by Professor Sian Taylor-Phillips.

WAH researchers include NIHR Professors and NIHR Senior Investigators and is home to leading scholars such as Professor Felicity Boardman, Professor Paramjit Gill, Professor Frances Griffiths, Professor Fern Terris‑Prestholt, Professor Swaran Singh, Professor Sophie Staniszewska and Professor Domenico Giacco.

The postholder will also benefit from being part of CHEW, a collaborative academic community of health economists based at Warwick Medical School, led by Professor Jason Madan. The Centre researches the socioeconomic value of health and healthcare in a range of contexts seeking to inform policy and improve health and wellbeing.
