Job summary

Do you have a passion for working with people who have a mental illness impacts on their offending behaviour, you may be the right person for the Forensic Community Mental Health Team. We are a small MDT who work across all of the Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust area (Coventry, North Warwickshire and South Warwickshire) providing care and treatment to people whose mental health has led to serious offending and engagement with the criminal justice system.

• Working with people who have a mental illness, which is associated with their offending behaviour
• Complete comprehensive risk assessments including HCR-20#
• Liaise and engage with criminal justice agencies, such as police, probation, prisons etc.
• Attend relevant meetings with MAPPA and MARAC where relevant.
• Provide oversight of medication, including depots.

• Registered Mental Health Nurse
• Current unrestricted registration with NMC
• Specialist knowledge across a range of procedures and theory
• Professional knowledge acquired through degree/ diploma
• Relevant training and experience specialist short courses
• Evidence of continuing professional development

• Excellent written communication skills

• Substantial experience in a Community Mental health care setting
• Developed specialist knowledge gained within a similar environment over a considerable period of time
• Significant experience of undertaking assessment, formulation, risk assessment and positive risk management
• Experience of safeguarding and investigations
• Proven experience of people management
• Experience of research based/reflective practice, e.g. understanding and ability to use supervision to reflect on skills, attitude and knowledge and develop these by using evidence based practice
• Experience as a preceptor / mentor

• Must have full driving licence and access to a motor vehicle for business use
