Payroll & Pensions Officer, Coventry
Salary: £35,300 - £37,500 per annum
PurposeReporting to the Head of HR, to be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the our clients HR systems and ensuring that all salary and pension information is provided to the external payroll and pensions provider in an accurate and timely manner resulting in staff being paid correctly and salary/pension reports are available as required.
Duties and responsibilities- Support the HR team in maintaining the integrity of the computerised HR and payroll system, ensuring that all payment information is accurate and supported by the appropriate authorised documentation.
- Liaise with managers, employees and external organisations to resolve payroll, pension and associated queries.
- Provide advice on Tax, NI, SMP, pension and other payroll associated matters.
- Support the HR team with the processing of variations to the payroll, including new starters, leavers, adjustments, overtime, benefits, deductions from pay etc. Processing data within the payroll system
- Checking of travel and expense claims.
- Completing reports for finance and payroll activities.
- Undertake day to day payroll and pension administration, including payroll preparation, input and advice, ensuring all data input from the payroll log is entered onto payroll system in a timely manner ensure payroll deadlines are met.
- Administer Statutory Maternity, Paternity and Adoption Pay data when required from payroll log.
- Check absence records for entitlement to Occupational Sick Pay.
- Inputting and checking timesheets for Sessional employees along with any overtime payments.
- Check payroll reports to ensure accuracy of staff salary payments, liaising with Finance to confirm payment details.
- Complete statistical returns and information requests from the external bodies as required.
- Undertake project work as required and taking lead responsibility for specific areas of payroll administration and associated advice.
- Participate in the appraisal process.
- Ensure the equality policies are encompassed within all aspects of work
- * Experience with Term Time payroll
- * Educated to CPP or equivalent
- * Experience with in an Educational setting
- * Experience providing end to end payroll support
- Excellent pension scheme
