About The Department

With the growing need to operate in an increasingly agile, digital‑first environment, we need to be able to quickly assess risk and seize opportunity. This means, for the University, we need to be able to leverage digital capabilities to drive engagement, efficiency and capability across the institution. The Information and Digital Group (IDG) is to be the trusted partner delivering innovative and effective digital services and solutions that empower our students, academics, research communities and staff to maximise their potential and achieve excellence.

IDG

Has Four Core Missions
  • Digital first culture – by developing a strong digital first culture, the University will stay ahead in today's ever‑evolving world.
  • Innovative digital library – we will revolutionise the academic experience by providing a dynamic and cutting‑edge digital library that empowers students, staff, and researchers with the latest technologies and resources.
  • Amplify and accelerate data innovation – our cutting‑edge data analytics capabilities will revolutionise the way we approach education.
  • Perfecting the digital twin – digital twin technology will facilitate remote learning and collaboration, allowing researchers from around the world to connect and work together on projects, revolutionising the way students learn and gain practical experience and transforming our operation model that will enable an innovative and immersive learning experience for all.

For us to deliver on this vision and strategy we need to build the right behaviours, skills and capabilities. We want to bring the very best people into IDG to realise these missions and join us on this journey. As part of IDG, I&O is responsible for ensuring the delivery of reliable, performant, and efficient technology and services to underpin the University’s strategic outcomes for teaching, research and administration.

This includes the development and maintenance of IT systems, networks and hardware ensuring they are performant to agreed SLAs and delivering high availability. I&O also develops and implements IT infrastructure and operations strategies for the University, aligning them with objectives and industry best practices. They oversee the University’s IT infrastructure, ensuring efficient and secure operations, while managing relationships with third‑party vendors and service providers to meet agreed‑upon agreements.
