Commercial Insurance Account Handler, New Business Support administrator, Coventry West Midlands - £27k-£32k Hybrid, 3 days per week in the office

Are you an experienced Commercial Insurance Account Handler who enjoys working with clients, liaising with insurers and helping to get new business over the line?

Perhaps you enjoy the commercial side of insurance and would welcome the opportunity to become more involved in new business, without moving into a purely sales-focused role.

We are working with an established commercial insurance brokerage in the West Midlands that is looking for a proactive and organised Account Handler to join its New Business team.

This is a varied opportunity that combines handling your own incoming enquiries with supporting experienced New Business Executives, offering plenty of client interaction, insurer engagement and the opportunity to develop your career.

Working as part of the New Business team, you will take ownership of a proportion of the incoming enquiries generated through the company’s website and telephone channels, while also providing valuable support to the wider team.

You will manage your own enquiries from initial fact‑finding through to quotation and completion, typically dealing with smaller commercial insurance premiums below £1,500, although larger opportunities may arise.

Alongside this, you will work closely with the New Business Executives, helping with insurer communications, obtaining quotations, preparing submissions, chasing information and ensuring opportunities continue to progress.

The aim is to provide excellent service to prospective clients while helping the wider New Business team operate efficiently and focus on developing new opportunities.

For someone who enjoys being proactive and identifying additional business opportunities, there is also scope to become involved in lead generation and business development, although this is not an essential requirement of the position.

• Taking ownership of incoming commercial insurance enquiries, managing them from initial contact through to completion.
• Speaking with prospective clients to understand their requirements and gather the information needed to obtain quotations.
• Obtaining quotations through insurer portals, Acturis eTrade and manual submissions.
• Liaising with insurers to obtain terms, clarify information and progress opportunities.
• Supporting the New Business Executives with risk presentations, market submissions and day-to-day administration.
• Following up with clients and insurers to ensure enquiries and quotations continue to move forward.
• Maintaining accurate client records, pipeline information and documentation within Acturis.
• Managing client onboarding, policy documentation, invoicing and premium finance administration.
• Helping to coordinate follow‑ups, outstanding actions and administrative activities across the New Business team.
• Building positive relationships with clients and insurers while delivering an excellent standard of service.

Ideally, you will bring:

• Previous experience as a Commercial Insurance Account Handler, New Business Account Handler or within a similar commercial insurance broking role.
• A good understanding of commercial insurance products and the quotation process.
• Experience communicating directly with clients and insurers.
• Confidence in gathering information, obtaining quotations and progressing enquiries.
