The Role
We are looking for a Global Legal Counsel – Special Projects to serve as the primary legal architect for our new venture. This isn't about maintaining the status quo. You will be designing legal structures from the ground up, driving complex commercial negotiations, and creating the frameworks that will define how we bring groundbreaking managed services to market. You will be responsible for planning and implementing projects from inception to closing, ensuring our managed service models are commercially viable and legally robust.
This role demands someone who can move at startup speed while upholding the rigorous standards of a global organization. You will join a fast-moving team where priorities shift quickly; challenges arrive without warning, and ready-made solutions rarely exist. Success here requires grit, speed, relentless ownership, and the ability to build legal infrastructure where none exists today.
- Lead the end-to-end legal setup of our new business venture, including foundational structures, governance frameworks, and commercial architectures required to offer managed services to the market
- Design and implement the legal architecture for innovative products and business initiatives, including the integration of financial service capabilities into our offerings
- Create original transaction documents and commercial agreements for both customers and suppliers, building frameworks where templates don't exist
- Act as the primary driver for high-stakes, project-based commercial transactions, leading negotiations to closure while balancing profitability with rigorous risk management
- Take full ownership of drafting and revising complex transaction documents, demonstrating ability to create and iterate on contractual provisions from scratch
- Provide creative and practical legal solutions to novel challenges where ready-made blueprints do not yet exist
- Work closely with global colleagues, external partners, and local legal functions to source jurisdictional information and ensure all projects align with company standards
- Prepare risk-based analyses and executive summaries for senior management, translating complex legal structures into actionable business insights
- Plan and implement projects from inception to closing, coordinating across business functions and geographies
To thrive in this role, you will need to combine deep expertise with the resilience to build from the ground up.
Essential Qualifications- Bachelor of Law, LLM, Juris Doctor, or equivalent legal qualification from a reputable institution. Qualified to practice law in the UK, Netherlands, Belgium, or another relevant European jurisdiction. Common law qualifications are preferred.
- 8+ years of post-qualification experience, with substantial time spent at a leading international law firm or in a multinational in-house legal department
- Proven track record drafting, negotiating, and closing high-value commercial contracts and managing sophisticated commercial deals
- Demonstrated ability to create and iterate on contractual provisions from scratch rather than relying on existing templates
- Experience in cross-border transactions and international legal environments
- Demonstrated success in stakeholder management, with the ability to build strong working relationships and communicate effectively with senior management
- Fluency in English with exceptional communication, presentation, and networking skills
- Willingness to travel internationally up to 25% of your time
- Exposure to project-based contracting models and structured finance
- Experience with in the transportation or EV charging industry
- Commercial legal background demonstrating versatility to navigate both enterprise (B2B) and consumer-facing (B2C) markets
