Procurement Officer

Your new company An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Officer to join a progressive public sector organisation. Working as part of a collaborative procurement team, you will play an important role in supporting sourcing activities, contract management, and commercial decision-making across a diverse portfolio of spend. With hybrid working available there is a need to be in the office 2 days per week.

Your new role As Procurement Officer, you will support the delivery of compliant and effective procurement activity, working closely with stakeholders to achieve commercial and operational objectives. Key responsibilities will include:
Supporting procurement, commissioning, sourcing, and contract management activities across a range of categories Advising stakeholders on procurement processes, commercial considerations, and regulatory requirements Assisting with tender exercises and supplier engagement activities Managing multiple procurement work streams simultaneously, ensuring key deadlines and objectives are met Supporting the delivery of change initiatives and continuous improvement projects Identifying and mitigating procurement and contract-related risks Producing reports, analysis, and recommendations to support informed decision-making Building productive relationships with internal teams, external partners, and suppliers What you'll need to succeed Experience supporting procurement, commissioning, sourcing, or contract management within a complex organisation The ability to develop strong relationships with a broad range of stakeholders and deliver excellent customer service Experience managing competing priorities and delivering multiple projects or work streams concurrently Knowledge of public sector procurement regulations is essential and must be conversant with PA23 Strong analytical, presentation, and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information Commercial awareness with strong negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder engagement capabilities A proactive and collaborative approach, with a focus on delivering value and service improvements What you'll get in return The opportunity to develop your career within a respected public sector organisation Exposure to a diverse range of procurement projects A supportive and collaborative working environment Ongoing professional development and training opportunities The chance to make a meaningful contribution to the local community Hays EA is a trading division of Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited and acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
