We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Pre-Construction Manager to provide a focus for preconstruction activities for our Energy BU across England and Wales on Overhead line, Cable and Substation projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for an established Pre-Construction professional or a Senior Engineering Manager or Senior Design Manager to step into a senior pre-construction role.
This is a management role but the candidate must be fully conversant with precontract activity such as bid management, ability to define a commercial position, governance, estimating, tender stage workload planning, customer management internal and external.
Role Responsibilities- Overseeing and managing both call off bid activity and early stages such as ECI preparation.
- Ensuring the project teams are working in a consistent way that will gain acceptance by both the customer and pass through internal governance.
- Reporting through the operational leadership, but closely aligned with the precontract team and ways of working to ensure successful completion, sign off and contract closure of early stage activities.
- Excellent leadership, communication skills and the ability to influence senior personnel.
- Extensive precontract experience is essential
- Proven record in successful tendering of major framework bids with significant precontract experience.
- Experience in engineering or construction, preferably with operational/project management experience
- Experience in the energy transmission industry (preferable but not essential)
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline, ideally with Chartership

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
