Chief People Officer

We are seeking an exceptional and visionary leader to join our Executive Team as our next Chief People Officer. This role will influence workforce strategy, culture, leadership, and organisational effectiveness within an ambitious NHS Trust dedicated to high‑quality care through an engaged, inclusive, and high‑performing workforce.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive and serving as a member of the Board, responsibilities will include strategic leadership across workforce, organisational development, culture, equality, diversity and inclusion, staff engagement, learning and development, wellbeing, talent management, and employee relations.

You Will Bring
  • Significant Board‑level leadership experience within a large and complex NHS organisation
  • A successful track record of leading workforce and organisational development strategy
  • Experience delivering large‑scale culture and transformation programmes
  • A passion for staff engagement, staff voice and co‑production
  • Experience developing collective leadership and organisational effectiveness
  • Strong political awareness and the ability to influence at the most senior levels
  • A deep commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and belonging
  • Exceptional relationship‑building skills and a collaborative leadership style
Key Responsibilities
  • Shape and deliver an ambitious workforce and organisational development strategy
  • Lead large‑scaling cultural transformation and engagement programmes
  • Champion staff voice, co‑production and social movement approaches
  • Develop collective leadership capability across the organisation
  • Create a culture of psychological safety, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement
  • Lead workforce transformation supporting service redesign, quality improvement and innovation
  • Ensure the Trust remains an employer of choice, attracting, developing and retaining exceptional people
  • Drive meaningful improvements in staff experience, wellbeing and engagement
  • Lead the equality, diversity and inclusion agenda, ensuring it is embedded in all activities
